Ed and tweeters,

We have both Steller's Jays and W. Scrub-Jays in our yard on daily basis.
The Steller's pretty much always give way to the scrub-jays, as do most
other birds. Often, when a scrub-jay flies in, many of the other birds in
the feeding area disperse for a moment.

Subject: [Tweeters] Scrub Jay, Steller'Ss Jay interaction

Sunday I was in the First United Methodist Church of Olympia parking lot and
watched two Scrub Jays puttering around and moving East on 5th Avenue. When
they came to Boundary Street they sat on the telephone line for a couple of
minutes and then moved into a thick tree that was nearby. Not long
afterwards a Steller's Jay landed in the same spot. The two Scrub Jay's
popped out of the tree and harassed the Steller's Jay until it left and the
Scrub Jay's returned to the tree.
