About 3 pm this afternoon, Gayle and I observed a eared grebe in
breeding plumage on the eastern shore of Green Lake. We first observed
the bird while collecting water samples from our kayaks on Monday
morning near the fishing T-Dock on the eastern shore of the lake. The
grebe was near shore and not disturbed by either the walkers or the
kayaks. Today we walked the eastern shoreline and could not fine the
grebe. At the small craft center we looked back and observed a grebe
near the finish-line marker north of the old Aqua Theater. We walked
back and got a good close up view of the eared grebe.
