For those interested in Snoqualmie Valley:

Howdy Tweets,
?
At Stillwater Wildlife Management Unit this morning (6/24/10) during a survey effort, I was quite surprised to have a very busy Least Flycatcher working the willows and cottonwoods along the Snoqualmie Trail, on the far side of the wetland that is just north of the main parking lot and?stormwater pond wetland.? It is the?wetland that is between the trail and the unit,?right at the second?road entrance into the unit,?heading north from the main parking lot along the trail.? It was on the backside and working mainly the?clump of vegetation?associated with the?5th bunch of cottonwoods from the south?end of the pond.??Che-beking like a broken record throughout the morning.
?
Also, had two male American Redstarts, one seen?at the spot that?folks have noted over the past month, near the northernmost end of the unit; and one just south of Harris Creek, across the bridge that is accessed from the field with the cut bank with nesting Bank Swallows.? It was working the?cottonwood/willow gallery forest there - similar habitat as the former.? No female spotted though - sneaky snake...
?
There were many other species all?out and about?when done with survey?sites so?I made a quick trip south on the trail, to the few bridges that are beyond?Harris Creek.? At the first bridge from Harris Creek, in the wetland complex found on the west side of the trail, just outside of the WMU overlooking?adjacent neighboring property were two American Bitterns giving each other territorial strife and flying at each other in dispute, circling higher - with one high tailing it out of there.? The chase and the squawks were something.
?
The fields?are not as?flooded as a week or so back - knee-high rubber boots suffice for making?one's way through the?area.??
?
Regards,
?
