Hi Tweeters,
Today(6/27/10) I refound an interesting INDIGO X LAZULI BUNTING that I
originally saw last Monday but failed to report. It has a bright blue head
and throat with a noticeable line to a gray breast and belly with lighter
blue splotches. I saw none of the orange seen on Lazulis, but the bird did
have one prominent wingbar and a slight hint of a second one. This bird is
about 6 miles west of Cougar on SR503 just 100 yards south of the
intersection where Spur 503 leaves 503 to head to Cougar. The bird was
singing from prominent perches under the power lines to the east of the road
on both occasions.
Also of interest today was an AMERICAN BITTERN flying over the ponds at the
Longview Mint Farm. I'm able to locate this species less than anually in the
county.
