Hi all,
?
In regards Connie's question,? I agree with everyone who responded, but there is one interesting possible "fact" to consider that puts a slight?twist on the discussion:?
?
I was watching a Nature documentary on reproduction on Public TV?in May.? One segment?interviewed ornithologists who had discovered, astonishingly,?that when ducks??(these weren't Gadwalls, they might have been Mallards)?are "raped," so to speak, the female, because of her amazing biology,?can normally (in the vast majority of cases)?"turn off" ?her receptivity and avoid?becoming impregnated, reserving receptivity for her mate.?
?
Of course, if the female is killed in the process, it's not much consolation, and I'm not in a million years suggesting it shows nature is moral, just that?there's an endless amount of surprises out there.
?
Btw, I was paying rapt attention at the time, but since I wasn't anticipating this discussion, I took no notes,?and can't cite any names or sources (sorry).?
?
?
?
