Gary Bletsch's post reminds me to report, belatedly, that I saw two male
Wood Ducks in Anacortes on February 28, on Big Beaver Pond in the
Community Forest Lands. By far the earliest sighting of them in my six
years here. Last year I saw my first on March 12.

The frogs started singing in the 32nd Street marsh near our house on the
night of 2/28, another early record.

Good birding and nature enjoyment in general in this benign winter and
early spring!
