Hi Tweeters,

Six of us from the Seattle/Bellevue area birded Chelan, Okanogan and Douglas Counties, Feb 26-Mar 1 (Waterville Plateau, Conconully, Havillah Rd, Nealey Rd, Chesaw, Molson, Cameron Lake Rd, Central Ferry Rd). Enjoyed seeing/hearing over 80 species. Stayed at the Omak Inn (recommend the Corner Bistro on 19 E Apple Street in Omak). Trip hightlights:

White-winged Crossbills (Sitzmark Ski Area--6 vocalizing and feeding in Douglas Fir)
Common Redpoll (approx 800 on Bolster Rd out of Chesaw; another 40 on Mary Ann Creek Rd; another 20 on Molson Rd)
Gray-crowned Rosey-Finch (Nealey Rd at the "feeder house" and at old farmstead just before the feeder house)
Lapland Longspur (1 in a flock of Horned Larks on Waterville Plateau, Okanogan Cnty)
Bohemian Waxwing (Nealey Rd at the "feeder house")
American Tree Sparrow (4 in Chesaw area)
Say's Phoebe (Confluence State Park in Chelan Cnty; Scotch Creek WLR on the way to Conconully in Okanogan Cnty)
Western Bluebird, several males, 1 female (Scotch Creek WLR)
Mountain Bluebird, several males (Highland Sno Park on Havillah Rd in Okanogan Cnty)
Prairie Falcon (1 at Scotch Creek WLR; 1 at Chesaw area)
Great Horned Owl on nest at Conconully State Park (top left of Pine tree on the right side of the bathroom as you look towards the lake)
Northern Pygmy-Owl (perched and hooting on top of Pine in Conconully; heard at Highland Snow Park off Havillah Rd)
Merlin (Bolster Rd out of Chesaw in Okanogan Cnty)
Townsend's Solitaire (1 perched on top of Pine in Conconully; 1 on Nealey Rd feeding in Juniper)
Snow Bunting (Cameron Lake Rd in Douglas Cnty; Nealey Rd in Okanogan Cnty)
Red Crossbill (Cameron Lake Road)
Bewick's Wren (as reported earlier on Central Ferry Rd in Douglas Cnty)
Mammal: Weasel, all white with black tip on the tail; on fence at Highland Sno Park off Havillah Rd)

Even though we spent a lot of time looking for, and missed, the gyr falcon, snowy owl, northern goshawk, bushtits, & grouse -- we had a GREAT trip!
