The National Audubon view point of the Sage Grouse situation is interesting. That is, critical core areas that are strictly protected. It reminds me of a German forestry practice of leaving small islands of old growth forest within their monoculture, even-aged tree plantations.


There was a pair of adult Red-tailed Hawks soaring and flapping around low overhead over my 32nd Street bus stop (near Sehome Hill, Bellingham) around noon. I always did love to see close-up Red-tails, wherever they be! (The local Whatcombirds has me locked out of its list serve, so I inserted this local observation into Tweeters.)
