Those wishing to chase the Tufted Duck on Drano Lake may want to watch for a male Mt. Bluebird on Hamilton Island at the intersection where the access to the boat launch goes left and the main road goes continues straight ahead.



The Tufted Duck on Drano Lake was with a few scaup and Ring-necked Ducks feeding on the far shore across from the boat launching area. Taking the road towards the fish hatchery up the Little White Salmon River we could get closer looks of the Tufted Duck who was diving continuously.



Other birds seen were California Quail and Evening Grosbeaks at Underwood. Lots of Virginia Rails on the graveled road to Kidney Lake. A Mew Gull at Stevenson. And 3 Western Meadowlarks on the top of Strawberry Island/Hamilton Island.



We could not relocate the Northern Shrike or the Say's Phoebe that were recently seen in Skamania County.
