Hi All: There were 42 brown pelican roosting at Westport 17 March plus more flying in the harbor. Four came in to the roost so I put the count at 46. They were on a rock breakwall about a km E of the observation platform at the east end of Nellie Rose Drive. Copy/paste the link below to get an ebird map. From ebird, 60 were counted in Jan at Ocean Shores. One item of interest is that there were no sighting prior to 2009 highlighting a problem with ebird data. No way to know if there were no pelicans or the result of no observations.

I don't see anyway to use ebird maps beyond a one time lookup, except bookmarked. However, once done, a map can be reused or shared as above. To reuse or share a map you can send the link that appears in the address bar by copy/paste into an email or other app such as a web page that will allow links. The user then copy/pastes the link to the address bar (or clicks if your email does that). Links could also be embedded in a web page. Embedded, the map would update as new sightings were posted. One could then use the code to make custom searches by changing the Month from =03 to =12 for all year. Or using the six character alpha code to get other species. Conceivably a page could be created with the distribution of species by region, date, etc. Or is there already an app for that?
