Popped by the Post Office this afternoon to see if the Burrowing Owl was still at his perch. Found him there again, and ran into an employee from a nearby business who said that the owl had received a check-up from veteranarians that day, and was given a clean bill of health.

Sounds like he may be as healthy as some other posters had assessed. It will be interesting to see if he moves on eventually, or gives it a go for nesting!

The person I talked to also reported that a coworker had the owl fly over his head after work one evening - more evidence that it's out finding snacks in downtown Renton.
(If anyone is making the trip down, though, you'll get better eats at Armondo's or the Red House nearby). If you're short a Scrub-Jay on your county list, this owl is right in the middle of the mile or so wide range of the downtown Renton pair.
