I stopped by the Moos Rd/Drumheller Rd. site on the border of Lincoln Co and Spokane Co. this morning about 11:30. Was on my way home from work.

There were no Sandhill Cranes on the ground. Looking around, I was distracted by a Red-tailed Hawk north of the road, just above the trees. Then, my eyes focused much higher and there were 3 groups of Sandhill Cranes - 12 birds total slowly circling from the Lincoln Co. side to the Spokane Co. side and back. They gradually worked lower and lower and over the car. I assumed that they were going to land in the field. But, they fooled me and flew over a ridge to the SW.

I have talked to a resident in that area who says that they get large numbers of them every spring in the fields. But there are no roads near her house.

But, if you are parked there at the right time, you might see them by looking up.

Good birding!
