At 11AM today, as we arrived at the meadow beneath the Haystack atop Mt Si, we were quite surprised to be greeted by the unmistakable song of the Canyon Wren. It continued to sing off and on throughout our 20 minute lunch, moving about. I never did see the bird but I do know it's song from previous encounters in the Grand Canyon and, more humble venue, the Columbia Wildlife Refuge.

It made my day.
