Hello Tweets,

Every year I'm sad to see the migratory waterfowl leave...until I see
nesting begin in earnest!

A few days ago I was taking pictures of an Anna's Hummingbird food-foraging
at a blooming Bigleaf Maple, and when I opened the photos back home I was
surprised to discover that it was not only out for vegetarian food but was
doing some carnivory as well:

Then yesterday I finally was able to get a few good shots of an Anna's
Hummingbird foraging at their regular fireweed patch in Lincoln Park:

The bushtits are hard at work as well. It's interesting to see that they
weave their nests from the inside out, entering with nest material and
working hidden from view, I assume so that they're not so obvious to
predators.

And then this morning a bunch of us were treated to a surprise marine
visitor not 30 yards off the Lincoln Park beach!

Living here really is like a dream come true.

Good birding to all,
Trileigh
