I have been fooled by my ID of Song Sparrows(or lack thereof) so many times I am reluctant to post anything that might even look like one and ask for opinions. However this bird just felt so different that I decided to have those interested take a look and tell me if it's really a Song Sparrow. I saw 10 or so Song Sparrows on a field trip to Whidbey Island today and none looked even close. My wife suggested a completely different bird but no one I've checked with locally seems sure. It has a long white stripe over the eye, very obvious red legs, a smaller (what looks like a non sparrow type) beak, is lighter in color than most I've seen and it's body was thinner. It stayed around only long enough to get photographed thru my living room window and disappeared. Thanks for any help.
