I just check the Birds of North America account and there are
no records for this species north of southern Nevada. And the
species is known only for limited post-breeding dispersal, no
migration.

It is unequivocally a Verdin, and I will stipulate to the "somewhere
between Othello and Grand Coulee" location until somebody says
otherwise. The bird appears to be in either greasewood or rabbitbrush
neither of which would negate an eastern Washington location...


This, of course brings us to the, how did it get here question.
I know most birders hate this question, but it needs to be asked.
I suspect this bird probably falls into the "human assisted"
category (along with all the Cardinals and stuff in Oregon).
