Following up on my previous private reply to you and your public response to
all:
All mistakes, especially in birding, are for one purpose and one purpose
only... to learn! When I find the birder that says they make no mistakes and
"know it all," I'll be sure and take their pulse... because they probably do
not have one!

Nice photos. If I were you, I'd write up what I saw, even if you did not
remember to note the exact spot and submit the photos along with the
description to the Washington Rare Birds Committee. This is definitely a
sighting worthy of note of a bird common only to the SW US, Baja CA and
northern Mexico, and especially so since it is not know to be a migrate, but
a fairly sedentary permanent resident. Sure, there is always the possibility
that it did not get to the spot seen under its own power, but regardless,
the sighting should be noted.

As a former Secretary of the Idaho Rarities Committee and presently the
advisor to that committee, I would be greatly appreciative of your
submission if I were in WA. Not knowing what you had before you does not
change the fact that the bird was present in a place far out of its range.
(And I don't believe Verdin can be considered a normal "cage bird.")
