Subject: [Tweeters] Brave squirel vs Cooper's Hawk

In the hot tub yesterday morning around 8, I saw movement out of the corner of my eye. A cooper's hawk, carrying part of a bird carcass, landed on the fence between us and neighbors.

I was able to get out of the tub quietly, get my glasses plus binocs, wake up my partner and watch for about 10 minutes.

Suddenly a squirrel came along the fence line (as always) and saw the Cooper's who fluffed up aggressively. The squirrel at first turned around but then appeared to decide "This is my road, I use it all the time. Get off!".

As it ran at the Hawk, the Hawk lifted off, straight at us, still holding the carcass. It swerved in time and went over the fence on the other side to find a new resting place. What a great view of the power of the hawk, coming right at us, about 20 feet away. Unlike the squirrel, I ducked.
