This morning, bright and cool after the heavy rain earlier in the week and we heard much loud drumming in the back garden. Immediately saw a Red-breasted Sapsucker beating on the side of one of our four nesting boxes then realized that there were two more birds one on each of the other boxes. For about half an hour they took turns beating on their respective boxes (too small for them to even consider using) then flew off only to return 15 mins later and repeat the process.

We have had single birds on occasion in the past , but never three at once !
