Yeah - I know it's not Thursday, but it was sunny.

I was hoping for Mountain Bluebird, as this week and next are the most
likely time for them to show up at Marymoor. No luck there, but I did have
a first-of-the-year COMMON YELLOWTHROAT singing along the east edge of the
East Meadow. A NORTHERN SHRIKE was being harassed by Pine Siskins and Tree
Swallows at the south end of the East Meadow.

In the slough were four WOOD DUCKS, which are probably new arrivals. The
BROWN CREEPERS were back at nest making.

About noon, I saw my first-of-the-year OSPREY fly into the park from the
west, along the SR-520 corridor. It appeared to be heading straight towards
the nest area, though when I drove over that way later I could not find the
bird.

At the Rowing Club, I believe I found the ANNA'S x RUFOUS HUMMINGBIRD hybird
that was reported by Michael Hamilton. This guy looks an awful lot like an
Anna's, but (a) the gorget *never* looked fushia - always just a coppery
orange, and (b) its fanned tail was distinctly orange. In flight, I did not
hear the typical flight buzzing of Rufous. While perched, I never heard any
of the typical Anna's chatter. I did see it do a display flight, but I lost
track of the bird at the bottom of the dive, so I don't know which pattern
it flew. I'm also unsure if it made *any* kind of noise as part of it's
display.

A nice morning.
