I spent a short 25 minutes at the Black River Heronry this morning about 10
am. A gentleman observing the Herons told me that the Bald Eagle nest had
fallen a couple of weeks ago and sure enough, when I looked it was gone. I
hadn't heard about this yet, perhaps I missed any postings on it. Too bad
for the Eagles, lucky for the Herons I guess. The Herons were very active
and vocal, coming in close to me to break off branches for their nests in
the trees above me. I also observed at close range a pair of Brown Creepers
in the Pine trees directly behind the main viewing area for the Herons.
