Jerry Swena and I made a run to Seatac. So on the way back we were going to try for the Manderin Duck reported in Shelton earlier in the week. But in vain, the duck hadn't been seen in a couple of days. We ended up driving down a logging road instead and having a very nice surprise anyway. A MOUNTAIN QUAIL flew across the road in front of us. He landed on the road and scurried into the Scotch Broom. A new state record for both of us.
