Hi Tweeters,
Inspired by Ken Knittle's post on Saturday, Anne Kahle and I headed for
Lewis County this morning(5/3/10). Our first stop was in northern Cowlitz
County at the Imboden Road-Trinity Drive wetland,where we 5 swallow species
along with LESSER YELLOWLEGS, LEAST SANDPIPER, AND LONG-BILLED DOWITCHER.
Into Lewis County there remained one RED-NECKED GREBE at the east end of
Riffe Lake. We dipped on Sora at the Peters Road wetland, but had hundreds
of swallows with 5 species represented. Our highlight at this spot was a
singing? male YELLOW-HEADED BLACKBIRD. Shaefer Park was very birdie with a
singing NASHVILLE WARBLER being the biggest excitement at this stop, as well
as a FOY personal HAMMOND'S FLYCATCHER. At the ponds to the west of the coal
plant to views of BLUE-WINGED, CINNAMON, and GREEN-WINGED TEAL, as well as a
LESSER-YELLOWLEGS and LONG-BILLED DOWITCHER.
For the first day of retirement it was a mighty fine day.
