Hey tweets, all gamblers know that Lady Luck is real, and when she
shines her light upon you, you need to hop a plane and head straight
for Reno and the craps tables. So I'm looking at plane fares now, even
as I write this, because today the heavens parted and luck rained down
on my head (along with a little real rain maybe mixed with some
sleet). A flock of more than 35 (!) Least Sandpipers appeared out of
nowhere and was foraging at the south end of Main Pond this morning.
Doug Parrott and I had the privilege of watching them a good long time
before they all jumped into the sky at once and flew north. A little
before that, a LESSER YELLOWLEGS was there, too, before flying right
over my head and disappearing into the ether, calling as it left. Doug
saw it before I did and managed to get a great photo.

On my way back to the kiosk, my car, and eventually a hot cup of
coffee, I stopped at the Leaky Pond, where the year's first WILSON'S
WARBLER obligingly popped out, in company with a Warbling Vireo,
numerous Yellow-rumped Warblers (both Audubon's and Myrtle) and an
Orange-crowned Warbler, all singing to beat the band.

All together, that makes 118 species seen at the Fill so far this year
by our birding community. - Connie, Seattle
