Hi Birders:

This morning, I took a drive in the rain to the Carnation area. There, I
spotted a pair of CACKLING GEESE on Sikes Lake at the 284th Ave bridge.
Several Canada's were also present. There were TREE, VIOLET-GREEN, BANK and
CLIFF SWALLOWS on the wires above the bridge. A nice immature BALD EAGLE
excited the rest of the bird population, and alit on a stump in Sikes Lake.
In the muddy field on the N side of 284th there were dozens of LEAST
SANDPIPERS and a single DUNLIN. There were 2 WESTERN KINGBIRDS on the bean
poles in the veg garden of the farm on the N side of 284th.

On 100th Street, where the road comes closest to the river, I pulled over,
and A EURASIAN COLLARED-DOVE flew up and sat on the telephone wires for me
to get a good look. There were BARN SWALLOWS on the wire as well. Further
along, among the other swallows there was a pair of NORTHERN ROUGH-WINGED
SWALLOWS.

On the south side of 124th Street there is a wet field that yielded both
GREATER and LESSER YELLOWLEGS. Then just north of the village of Carnation
there was a single TURKEY VULTURE defying nature by trying to catch a
thermal on a 40 degree, overcast, rainy day. It flapped across the tree
line heading east, and immediately dropped into a field. I guess he either
found something good, or decided to wait for better flying conditions.

Nice trip. I added 5 new King County .
