Hello, this is the Audubon Society of Portland Rare Bird Report. This report
was made Thursday May 6. If you have anything to add call Harry Nehls at

Weather conditions May 3 brought many seabirds toward shore. At Boiler Bay
and Lincoln City up to four BLACK-FOOTED ALBATROSS, four FULMARS, 15000
SOOTY SHEARWATERS, 14 PINK-FOOTED SHEARWATERS, three MANX SHEARWATERS, an
unidentified PTERODROMA PETREL, a FRANKLIN?S GULL, a SABINE?S GULL, and 1300
RHINOCEROS AUKLETS were seen.

Peak numbers of shorebirds moved northward along the coast during the week.
A major flight of WHITE-FRONTED GEESE passed Oregon during the week.
Thousands of EVENING GROSBEAKS are now in the Willamette Valley. CALLIOPE
HUMMINGBIRDS continue to be seen in the valley.

On May 2 a LOGGERHEAD SHRIKE was near Sandlake, south of Tillamook. A PALM
WARBLER was at Bayocean May 1. The MOCKINGBIRD wintering in Nehalem Meadows
was seen again April 30.

On May 1 a BLACK-BELLIED PLOVER was among the many shorebirds at the
Fernhill Wetlands. Two BLACK TURNSTONES were there May 3. The eight WHITE
PELICANS are still being seen there. On April 29 an early SWAINSON?S THRUSH
was at Elijah Bristow State Park southeast of Eugene.
