All,

It was a beautiful day at Theler Wetlands today. It was sunny and clear
when I arrived at 8:00. The highlight for me was a Turkey Vulture that
made several low passes. Here is a link to some of the photographs I

I also saw the Northern Harrier and a beautiful Red-tailed Hawk. Other
birds of note: Greater Yellowlegs, Peeps, Tree Swallows, Barn Swallows,
Violet-Green Swallows and five Red Crossbills.

I next drove to nearby Belfair State Park where I was surprised to see
22 Caspian Tern on the sand where Big Mission Creek empties into the Sound.

On another note. I met a fellow birder at Theler who said that he
talked with a survey crew at Theler several weeks ago. They told him
the plan was to remove 500 feet of dike. They have not made their plans
public so I can't independently verify this.
