Actually, Randy's pant legs and boots were dripping. A very wet walk
through the tall grass among the Russian-olives produced zero birds. None!
However, above toward the water tower there were several species, including
two brief looks at a LESSER GOLDFINCH mixed in with several AMGO. It would
be nice if this bird can be relocated. Dusky and Gray Flycatcher, Chipping
Sparrows on the hill, a Bullock's Oriole, many Western Tanagers, but almost
no warblers in Bassett Park. Back in Othello a Nashville Warbler,
Golden-crowned Sparrow and Black-chinned Hummingbird in the back yard.
Yesterday on the Migratory Bird Day field trip we had a Golden-crowned
Sparrow and Townsend's Solitaire at the Othello Cemetery, Prairie Falcon
near the Para Ponds, and a Lewis's Woodpecker at the Corfu woods. Friday a
Black Tern at the Para Ponds.
