I photographed?a purple martin today perched on one of the plastic gourds.?? Down at the marsh, ?I photographed an adult and two (?) juvenile Bewick's wrens?in the bramble below the main viewing platform.?? I suspect the nest is nearby.

Today (5-10-10) is the first day of reports that 4 Purple Martins are back around the gourds between the ferry dock and public pier in Edmonds.? Of the 7 or 8 new plastic gourds we hung last year, only 4 remain.? I have 3 new ones and no way to get them out there and attached at the moment.? After last year's spotty martin nesting around the Sound, we'll be lucky if all four gourds get used.? We'll be keeping an eye on them.
