In response to several requests about recent info on Malheur, I am providing the following. I drove down on 4/23 and back on 4/26 and had a great trip, highlights being Greater Sage Grouse at the lek, Burrowing Owl, big mixed flock of Snow and Ross' Geese, Golden Eagle, quite a few Sand Hill Cranes spread out over the area, American Avocets, Long-billed Curlews and Black-necked Stilts, plus a badger. I will forward a trip report to the three individuals who requested info on Malheur yesterday and anyone else who wants one (it has some worthwhile locating information). My wife and I have stayed at the Diamond Hotel in the past and found it a pleasant experience. On this last trip I camped out at Paige Springs which was a bit nippy (in the 20's one night) and crowded with the opening of fishing season (it may have thinned out by now) but worthwhile.
Happy birding,
