Tom and I hiked Dungeness Spit on Friday and saw several Ruddy Turnstones. At first we thought they were Killdeer in gaudy breeding plumage, never having seen the Turnstones there before. Or anywhere else for that matter. Are they usual on the Spit and we just missed them in the past? They were shoving - plowing - seaweed aside with their bills.

A beautiful day.
