Hello Tweeters
We had 97 Red Knots on the boardwalk at Bowerman Basin, Gray's Harbor Wildlife Refuge.??Ron Martin, Jeff Cohen and I were doing a count for the refuge.? With only one Red Knot showing up at last week's Shorebird Festival, we decided to continue the count later in the month to catch the larger numbers coming through.? We saw our greatest number of birds at 11:00 AM, about half an?hour before high tide.? They were among some 7,000 other shorebirds, nearly 10th of the number we?found during the Festival.

We also scoped the sewage treatment ponds for the female tufted duck we found on April 30, but had no luck.? There were a couple of canvasbacks among the 60 or so Greater Scaup.
