I made run out Hwy 12 today still looking for new migrants to show. I started at Swofford Ponds which was a bit slow. Here I had
BALD EAGLE - 1
TURKEY VULTURE - 2
VAUX'S SWIFT - 4
BUFFLEHEAD - 4
RING-NECKED DUCK - 2
HOODED MERGANSER - 1

The next stop wasn't too far away. The Cowlitz Wildlife Area off Young Rd. There is a several mile loop trail and a nice wetland. I spent most of the time checking the wetland. Here I had
WARBLING VIREO - 1
EVENING GROSBEAK - 3
WOOD DUCK - 2
BLUE-WINGED TEAL - 1
CINNAMON TEAL - 2
TURKEY VULTURE - 1
GOLDEN-CROWNED SPARROW - 2
ORANGE-CROWNED WARBLER - 1
BLACK-THROATED GRAY WARBLER - several
COMMON YELLOWTHROAT - lots
BUSHTIT
PURPLE FINCH

Then I was on my way to the east end of Riffe Lake. I had planned on racking the birds up here. It was dead. I had
BUSHTIT - 2
VAUX'S SWIFT - 2
AMERICAN WIGEON - 4

>From here I worked my way over to Falls Rd. There is a nice clearcut at MP 2. So I stopped and scanned it out. OK, this it where it gets crazy. I spotted about 35+ birds flitting about at the back of the clearcut. Everyone had a bluish cast, and they were not swallows. I could not believe these all could be bluebirds, but they could be. So I spent some time watching and scoping. Finally, I did confirm there were 4 WESTERN BLUEBIRDS out there. If I said I had 35+ bluebirds in one spot, you might think I was on the pipe.

Next it was a stop at the Peters Rd. flood plain ponds. Ken, Tom, Russ, and Anne had lots of good birds here a week ago, so I made the stop. I had
BLUE-WINGED TEAL - 2
BUFFLEHEAD - 2
WOOD DUCK - 1
BANK SWALLOW - 2 possibly 3. Thanks for the tip Matt.
NORTHERN ROUGH-WINGED, TREE, CLIFF, VIOLET-GREEN, BARN, SWALLOWS
SAVANNAH SPARROW - 1
YELLOW-RUMPED WARBLER
TURKEY VULTURE - 1
SORA - 1 Finally got him to give a one time call. Thank you Mr. Sora, hope you didn't strain yourself.

Next it was onto the Mt. Adams Veneer Mill Pond south of Randle, between Cispus Rd. and Spears Rd. Some folks call it the Spears Mill Pond. Here i had
OLIVE-SIDED FLYCATCHER - 1
YELLOW WARBLER - several
RED-BREASTED SAPSUCKER - 1
BLACK-HEADED GROSBEAK - 1
PURPLE FINCH
RUFOUS HUMMINGBIRD
WILSON'S SNIPE - 1 heard winnowing, from the fields across the road.
TURKEY VULTURE - 4

I made a quick stop on Spears Rd. to checkout another wetland. Here I had
WOOD DUCK - 2
CINNAMON TEAL - 1
WARBLING VIREO - 1
