We returned last night from a visit to Malheur and the surrounding areas. We arrived Friday, May 7 in the evening and left the area Monday, May 10 around noon. We used Hines as our base. There was lots of water. It was cool overnight...in the 30s and up to 50 during the day. Rain and snow on Monday.
The areas covered from evening of May 7 to morning of May 10:
Pond North side of hiway at Silver Creek intersection with Hiway 20

Sage Hen Rest Area on hiway 20 west of Hines
Greenhouse Road and Potter's Swamp Rd
Hiway 205 to the Refuge Headquarters
Central Patrol Road to Buena Vista Ponds
Loop to Malheur Field Station
Frenchglen entrance to P Ranch
Harney Lake Road
Hiway 205 north to Burns for return to Hines
Hiway 395 north of Burns - turned back due to snow before we reached Idlewild campground.
