A Wednesday afternoon visit to the revamped headquarters refuge yielded all
three species of teal in abundance feeding together with pintails on the
first pond off of the west dike. Mixed in was a Wilson's Phalarope. Four
Greater Yellowlegs made an appearance in the same area. Yellow warblers and
Cedar Waxwings were present along the dike trail. Since the lateral dikes
have been breached you can no longer make the circuit to the east and the
river dike to return to the headquarters parking lot.
