Hi Tweeters,
I spent about 4 hours in the Kalama area yesterday (5/12/10) birding the
Port of Kalama properties. There appears to be a strong GREAT EGRET breeding
presence at the heronry there. From the wide shoulder of Meeker Road on the
east side of Meeker Pond (the wetland just north of downtown visible from
I-5) I counted 11 egrets in the heronry visible in the tops of the
cottonwoods just south of the grain elevators on the Columbia riverfront.
Ther were also 4
