On Wednesday 21 of us enjoyed a great walk at Nisqually. It was cool at
the start but warmed up quickly.
The birding was spotty but we did see some good birds. Construction
continues on the new boardwalk out toward Luhr Beach and that may have
contributed to our big miss.

Highlights included a SOLITARY SANDPIPER in the interior pond near the
construction site and several new passerines for the year. Water levels are
way down and not many waterfowl are left on the refuge.

Warblers are in with YELLOW, WILLSON'S, ORANGE-CROWNED, MacGILLIVRAY'S,
BLACK-THROATED GRAY, COMMON YELLOWTHROAT, ORANGE CROWNED, and YELLOW RUMPED
being seen. We also got great looks at a WARBLING VIREO.

Misses of interest was not seeing the WILSON'S PHALAROPE that had been seen
for the past week. It was seen earlier in the morning but by 11:00 when
we got to the area it was no where to be found. Perhaps the construction
activity caused it to go elsewhere. We also did not see any raptors or
woodpeckers. Weird.

All told we saw 42 species for the day.

Mammals seen were EASTERN GRAY SQUIRREL and BLACK-TAILED DEER.
