2?short walks yielded 3 species of teal.Started at Magneson Park and started with a nice view of a savanna sparrow.Continuing to the new lagoons another nice view? of a white crowned sparrow.Both birds modelled nicely and I was thinking perhaps it was going to that kind of day.While inspecting the ponds I could see off in a distant pond something diving.So I made my way around using birders trails till I came up to the other side of the lagoon,and found a lone ring necked duck.His watch must have stopped as I think he is the last around.Moving along to a more secluded pond a pair of cinnemon teals where a suprise.Mixed in where mallards and one with a family,gadwall.They also had a family and a family of canada geese.As I left the ponds 3 american widgeon flew in.Lastly a good look at a common yellowthroat.
Stopped at the fill on the way home and on shovellers pond.Mixed in with the shovellers a blue winged teal and a coot.On the shore a killdeer flew in.Main pond as best I could see,a lone greenwinged teal,gadwall and another blue winged teal.As far as the closure of trails.There is more than one viewing area,Why cannot these areas be rotated to rest heavy used areas.Seems to be a win win solution.Birders can still access favourite haunts and the wildlife will have time to recouperate as well.Thoughts on this idea.
