Hi Tweeters (and Hummers)...just a few miscellaneous tweets from my backyard...

A few days or so late with this - but had a spectacular J Dive display over my house - an Anna's "buzz bombing" up a hundred feet or so and then diving into my back yard. I was in the front yard observing the aerial display. I could hear the loud chirp from the front and watched this for about ten dives before attempting to see where he was "diving". It ceased as soon as I went out back. The male perched in the Styrax beneath where he'd been diving.

Husband noticed one Anna's today lighting on a vine maple leaf after taunting a bushtit in the same tree.

Can anyone tell me how close a nest site might be when this happens or is it strictly territorial/mating - I'll get my books out and look this up. I've never seen this so close to home. Quite wonderful.

Also, today - much towhee activity - from on high. Different calls/displays. Any ideas how to know if nesting in my yard? I know I had young ones in the yard last year.

Had a Steller's jay nest land on my deck in a recent wind storm. Interesting construction - haphazard -mud interior / sticks - kind of free form.

(Any miraculous cures for plantar fasciitis out there in Tweeter land? It's cramping my birding!!)
