Hello, this is the Audubon Society of Portland Rare Bird Report. This report
was made Thursday May 20. If you have anything to add call Harry Nehls at

On May 16 an immature KING EIDER was off Yachats State Park. On May 17 a
MOORHEN was on the North Spit of Coos Bay. On May 16 a LAWRENCE?S GOLDFINCH
was at Mount Talbert Park in Clackamas. A female RUFF was seen May 16 at
Baskett Slough NWR.

Heavy spring movements continued during the week.

On May 18 a late GLAUCOUS GULL was in Lincoln City. Over 5500 PACIFIC LOONS
and 2000 RED-NECKED PHALAROPES passed Boiler Bay May 16.

On May 17 a ROCK WREN was seen on Mt. Tabor in Portland. It continues to be
seen. Up to 21 WHITE PELICANS are now in the Portland/Vancouver area. On May
16 three PECTORAL SANDPIPERS were at the Fernhill Wetlands in Forest Grove.
A FORSTER?S TERN was at Jackson Bottom in Hillsboro May 14. On May 15 a
BLACK SWIFT was over the Tualatin NWR. A female COSTA?S HUMMINGBIRD was at a
McMinnville feeder May 12. On May 14 a flock of 224 BAND-TAILED PIGEONS were
along Hwy 22 near Grand Ronde.

On May 18 a LONG-BILLED CURLEW was at Baskett Slough NWR. A BLACK-CROWNED
NIGHT-HERON was at Ankeny NWR May 13, and another was in Sawyer Park near
Bend the same day. On May 17 a SNOWY PLOVER was on the sandbar at the mouth
of Hood River. A BLACK SWIFT and a LARK SPARROW were seen there during the
week. A GREAT-TAILED GRACKLE was seen May 15 south of Burns Junction.
