I spent several hours birding around Discovery Park today and the
highlight for me happened to be watching a MOUNTAIN BEAVER
(Aplodontia) on a trail next to the visitor center parking lot. The
rodent ignored my presence (being only 3 or 4 feet away), while it was
harvesting various plants; - very nice!
Also, near the lighthouse I had a pair of HARLEQUIN DUCKS which I
don't find very often at Discovery Park and on the walk down to the
beach I located a BARRED OWL that was being mobbed by Crows. A few of
my sightings included:

Harlequin Duck
Caspian Tern
Barred Owl
Hutton's Vireo
Pacific-slope Flycatcher
Swainson's Thrush
Orange-crowned Warbler
Wilson's Warbler
Black-headed Grosbeak

Cheers and Good Birding;
