what a surprise ... this evening we had a Western Wood-Pewee catching
bugs in our backyard ... and not in the trees ... his perch was the
field fencing we have creating a dog area next to the house ...
basically I stood on the patio and watched him about 10-20 feet away
catching dinner !!!!! ... apparently I didn't bother him at all ...
once he even caught something about 3 feet over the top of my head !!! ...

our resident Song Sparrow was a bit miffed however ... apparently he
considers the fencing HIS ... at one point the Song Sparrow abruptly
flew over and knocked the Wood-Pewee off his perch !!!!!!! ... didn't
bother the Wood-Pewee tho, he just flew back and landed about 4 feet
from the Song Sparrow and continued watching the area for bugs ...
