Hi Tweets, I've been reading the list for awhile but this is my first
posting. Yesterday about 3:00 PM I was riding my bike with my wife South of
Olympia on the Chehalis Western Trail near MP 15.0. As I approached a mom
and her son walking on the trail, they were pointing excitedly into the
woods. We stopped and got great looks at a barred owl sitting very near the
trail perched about 10 feet up a small fir tree. I will be interested to
see if the owl is still in the area on future rides. About a year and a
half ago I had a barred owl swoop down from above while I was riding on the
trail nearer to Olympia. It pulled up about ten feet above my head. I guess
I was too big to catch. If anyone wants more specific location data contact
me off list.
