Hi Tweets,

At approximately 10:45 am this morning, I was stopped at a red light at the
intersection of S Hosmer St and S 72nd St (right across from the Starbuck's
and Shari's Restaurant) when I noticed a gull with a dark tail and
wing-tips. It was flying directly over the Shari's parking lot, just a
couple blocks west of Wapato Lake. At first I only saw the underside of the
tail and thought that it may have been the feet that made the tail appear
darker but then it turned and allowed me to view the top. The uppertail
coverts were white and sharply contrasted with the darker gray to black
tail. The head of this gull seemed to have some mottled brown/gray. It
appeared to be a 3rd year bird, as there was still some brown in the wings.

This was a brief sighting, maybe 30 seconds or so. I could not stop for
further viewing as I was on my way to work. I most likely will not be able
to get back to the area until later this evening. So, if anyone is in that
area today, keep your eye out. I would really like to know if what I saw
was indeed a Black-tailed Gull.

Happy Birding!
