Hi Tweets,

Today, on a bird survey at Stillwater Wildlife Management Unit near
Carnation I had an adult male AMERICAN REDSTART at the same location we
had a male and female paired last summer. This is along the no-name
creek that has had enhancement work recently - follow the main path into
the unit from the secondary smaller parking lot (closest to Duvall and
across from Fay Rd.) toward the river and head back across the metal
grated bridge (through the first tree line) to the open field with the
new tree buffer enhancements. Follow that directly down to the tree
line adjacent to the river and turn right (north) and head into the
break in the tree line. The AMRE was singing like mad all over that
patch of forest - didn't seem to have anyone to counter with so he had
full reign of the area and was moving back and forth.

I then went back into that first field that one traverses into prior to
crossing that metal grated bridge and noted at WESTERN KINGBIRD perched
on one of the enhancement plantings. It gave nice looks and then flew
off across the fallow field towards the Snoqualmie Trail, in the
vicinity of the King County property that has the beaver lodge on the
pond and is adjacent to Weiss Creek. Also had Orange-Crowned Warbler,
Common Yellowthroat, MacGillivray's Warbler, Y-R warbler (Audubon),
Yellow Warbler, Warbling Vireo, Purple Finch, Western Wood-pewee, Willow
Flycatcher, Pacific-slope Flycatcher, Bullock's Oriole, Western Tanager
and many of the other more regular migrants and/or denizens of that area
of the valley.

Please use a WDFW Vehicle Use Permit to park in the parking lot.
Permits are inexpensive and assist in maintenance costs of that overall
area. You can order them from online WDFW licensing or at area
retailers listed at the WDFW licensing site.
