On Thursday morning, five birds were found dead in a pile by the Titlow Park (Tacoma) parking lot. All had been shot, probably by a pellet gun - 3 Killdeer including a chick with its head blown off, an Oriole and a Mourning Dove. The Tacoma Police Department reported that "a state agency was responsible for the killing and the mess." WDFW personnel have no knowledge of the birds and it seems very odd that anyone doing bird removal would be shooting those species AND leaving them behind. I'd be interested to know if anyone has any information about this event, and also to alert folks to a possible gun toting early morning bird plinker in Tacoma area parks.
