hi:

the falcon that left the nest returned today, sometime between noon and
three. he was described as having an indentation where the crop should be
-- maybe he left home without permission. in any event, the count is back
up to four and they are absolutely gorgeous birds. lots of flapping and
jumping and helicoptering and the like, so it would not be surprising to see
somewhere between one and all of them hit the air tomorrow. if they don't,
the forecast for the rest of the week is not that auspicious. drat.

the second clutch of american dippers at the bridge over tokul creek has
started to leave the nest, at least two were out during the mid-afternoon.
good photo ops for parents feeding young if the weather holds.
