Yesterday, the first day of the RV campground seasonal closing, the usual winter shorebirds returned to Fort Flagler in significant numbers. There were three dowitchers, which I don't usually see, in with the flock. Birds on the water were few, and the woods I walked through were really quiet. Shorebirds seen included:
Black-bellied Plover 120
Dunlin 250
Sanderling 140
Dowitcher 3
Black Turnstone 30
