This morning there was little wind at Fort Flagler, and the water was quiet. I saw eight Long-tailed Ducks on Port Townsend Bay from the spit. These are the first I've seen this season. Also, I saw a Yellow-billed Loon well out on the bay. This is a different bird from the one I reported from Fort Flagler a few weeks ago. This one is still largely in breeding plumage, while the previous one was fully in nonbreeding plumage.
