Hello, this is the Audubon Society of Portland Rare Bird Report. This report
was made Thursday November 4. If you have anything to add call Harry Nehls
at 503-233-3976.

On November 2 a probable immature male PAINTED BUNTING was at the Seaside
Mill Ponds. It has not been relocated. A COMMON GROUND-DOVE was reported on
Sauvie Island October 31, and also could not be relocated. On October 31 a
female CHESTNUT-COLLARED LONGSPUR was at the beach overlook in Pacific City.
The Klamath Falls BLUE JAY continues to be seen.

Birding along the coast continues to be very good, but without the numbers
seen during the storms. Many RED PHALAROPES are still being seen. Inland
sightings of SURF and WHITE-WINGED SCOTERS are still being reported.

Several WHITE PELICANS continue in the Portland Metro Area. On October 30
two PACIFIC LOONS and four scoters were on the Sheridan Sewage Ponds. On
October 31 a GOSHAWK was along Farmer Road east of Baskett Slough NWR. Two
HARLEQUIN DUCKS are still being seen at Eagle Creek near Bonneville Dam, and
another is at Hood River.

A late BLUE-GRAY GNATCATCHER was seen October 28 near Sisters. An ACORN
WOODPECKER continues to be seen in Bend. ON October 29 a CLAY-COLORED
SPARROW was in Bend. Recently up to 20 BLACK-CROWNED ROSY-FINCHES have been
seen on Grizzly Butte north of Prineville. On October 30 a PACIFIC LOON was
on Prineville Reservoir.

On October 30 a male LAPLAND LONGSPUR was at Hatfield Lake near Bend. On
Wickiup Reservoir October 31 were 140 COMMON LOONS, 14 SURF SCOTERS, and two
WHITE-WINGED SCOTERS. On November 1 a LONG-TAILED DUCK was photographed on
the LaGrande Sewage Ponds.
